
Protecting Internally Displaced Womewn and Girls Against Abuse

With funding from the Department of State through the Alumni Engagement Innovation Fund (AEIF), CAFTAL concluded a successful project to protect the rights of internally displaced women in the Southwest Region. The project:
1. Provided legal advice and counseling to 40 Internally Displaced girls and Women in Fako and Meme Divisions in order that victims of abuse and violations get their day in Court.
2. Established Civil Status Documents and National Identity Cards for 300 Internally Displaced girls and Women.
3. Trained 68 women in monitoring documentation and reporting on Human Rights violations at Community level.
4. Created two Community networks of girls and Women to monitor violations and abuse and identify potential victims in their Community and provide referrals.
5. The project reached 800 women and men through community sensitization campaigns.
