How my educational experience has prepared me to combat digital illiteracy - Ndolo Lydia

I have been very passionate to put smiles on faces, making dreams a reality and orientating people for a better future and society.

Following my activities in visiting orphanages and the complaints I received when I was a Class Mistress and Mathematics Head of the Department on sexual violence and females' negative mindset toward Mathematics, I decided to open a Club called Female Student School Club in my present school.

Through this Club which included representatives of every class and some colleagues, I sensitize against sexual violence, promote STEM, promote gender equity and foster career orientation.

The positive feedback I got from my Parents and my Principal made me discover my Leadership, Caring and humble skills.

A friend who co-founded this Club told me about the Fulbright Teaching Excellence and Achievement (FTEA) program sponsored by the US Government of State, which I applied for the first time and I was selected.

I learnt a lot and visited so many tourist sites.

Upon my return to Cameroon, my ideas, experiences, Teaching styles and methods have changed for the better.

With the application of what I gathered and my lessons garnished with songs and learning tools, my class is now so engaging.

I have written a project, though yet to be approved on implementing Digital Literacy in order to combat social media harms and to add Digital Education Technology to my Club.

I keep my fingers crossed while waiting on opportunities for me to give out my best back to my society and make the world a better place.

Thank you,

Ndolo Etomenongene Lydia epse Nkwelle,

Mathematics Teacher at Government Bilingual High School Deido Douala,

Member of the Cameroon Association of Fulbright Teachers Alumni (CAFTAL),
