The last decisive phase of the academic year 2023 - By TABOT Delna

The first day of the last phase of the third Term kick-started on Monday, the 17th of April 2023 with the Education community filled with hope and enthusiasm; from the Government, the Administration, the Parents, the Teachers as well as the Students who are the main focus at this point in time. It should be recalled that the first phase of the third term began on Monday the 6th of March right up to Friday the 31st of March 2023. And here we are with the second and last phase of this term. This should be a very decisive moment in the life of all the parties involved in the process and the students in particular.

It was the turn of the Regional Inspectors to see to it that all the Educational stakeholders involved in the teaching, learning and evaluation processes are on top of their game. Several visits were made to different school establishments, in order to ascertain the effective start of the term and to ensure maximum acquisition of basic necessities to end the academic year well and to register great academic success.

It is worth noting the counselling we had to give to the respective parties we met on the field; the students were reminded that the year has already ended and they should be at the phase in their lives whereby they should adhere to good advice geared towards their success. They were also reminded of the dates of their respective end-of-year examinations. For the students in the intermediate classes, it was time for them to know that this is a moment of unravelling their great digital citizenship and staying away from fruitless social media habits. To the students of examination classes, they were reminded of the dates of their respective official examinations which shall be in stages as follows; Practicals from Tuesday the 2nd of May 2023 to Friday the 19th of May 2023 and the Written part from Tuesday the 30th of May to Tuesday the 13th of June 2023.

To the teachers, with the assurance of having taught all through the two terms, they were given the confidence to lead the students right into their examination halls while using this phase to consolidate teaching and learning. They should also play a great role as facilitators.

In conclusion, if failure has been recorded in the previous two Terms, it’s not too late. Now is the moment to identify what went wrong, make amends and focus with resilience on recording success and at the end, every stakeholder shall rejoice.
